I am really excited to launch the first men’s collection from Lydia Jewels.

Below is the official press release written by the fabulous Amy at Sweaty Betty PR.

THE LYDIA JEWELS IN EVERY GUYS CROWN

Let’s hear it for the boys! Sydney stylist and jewellery designer Lydia-Jane Saunders has created her debut men’s accessories collection; a tribute to her guy friends who have been begging her to design stylish pieces for the male species.

‘Chained To Me’ was inspired by the dark, steamy nights of Sydney’s club scene and features a quirky range of guys and unisex pieces with a masculine aesthetic and Lydia’s quirky signature touches.

The hero piece in the collection is the Onyx Spider Rosary necklace, a flamboyant silver accessory with huge spider pendant, reminiscent of the Lost Boys and Edward Cullen’s dark and brooding style ($146). The Wishbone pendant will bring guys good luck ($40) and Lydia has also included chunky cuffs and surfer-style bracelets, dog tags on chains, and bronze and silver rings.

Lydia admits she spends a lot of time with
her male friends and has created a collection in homage to Sydney’s stylish fellas.

I haven’t had the chance to see Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland film just yet but those that have, are raving about it. Everyone seems to love a bit of Alice and that is extending to jewellery.

Lydia Jewels has been blown away by the response of the media (blogs and magazines) and customers to our micro Alice in Wonderland collection. Girls are loving it so much that we are almost out of materials to make up the pieces that are being ordered and we won’t be getting any more in. So snap up your piece of Alice today.

This weekend just gone (February 13th) Good Weekend magazine in the Sydney Morning Herald featured a Lydia Jewels headband. I made this headband purely for the magazine, it is made with sequinned white flowers and a gold elastic band. It was a one off. We have been inundated with orders for it. I am trying to source the materials to make more. What it has taught me though is that girls are loving headbands, so please stay tuned for a micro collection of headbands shortly.

We will also be making custom made headbands, so if you have an idea of something you would like and can’t find it anywhere, get in touch – studio@lydiajewels.com

I have always loved the book, the Disney film and I can’t wait for Tim Burton’s masterpiece, out soon. So it felt only natural to create a micro collection inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Pieces are very limited, so snap them up now.

Shop the Alice in Wonderland collection here

Pebbles&Bows_3

PEBBLES AND BOW NECKLACE

This necklace is representative of when pebbles are thrown at Alice and as they hit her they turn into cakes.

Don'tForgetTheKey

DON’T FORGET THE KEY NECKLACE

This necklace is inspired by Alice drinking the potion to make her smaller to fit through the door. She forgets the key, goes back and she can’t get to the giant key because she is too small.

DownTheRabbitHole_2

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE BRACELET

This bracelet incorporates many elements of the book. The feather respresents the birds that feature throughout, the rose beads resemble the rose garden and the key opens the door to this magical kingdom.

Official Press Release from Sweaty Betty PR

EXOTIC JEWELS OF THE NIGHT FROM LYDIA

Exotic Asian shades, regal touches, and decadent dark gems – the latest collection from Lydia Jewels will whisk you from grey winter days in the city, to the remote tropical beaches of Thailand.

‘Jewel of the Night’ is the third stunning collection of accessories from Sydney designer and stylist Lydia-Jane Saunders. Renowned for her vintage-inspired pieces, which include bridal collections and bespoke items, Lydia has moved into darker territories this season, fusing her signature old Hollywood glamour with striking Asian culture.

Influenced by a recent sojourn to Thailand, ‘Jewel of the Night’s pieces including rosary bead necklaces, elegant drop earrings and on-trend chunky bracelets, crafted from Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones including Amber, Onyx and Pink Quartz.  Black and jewel tones give the collection a gothic edge, while highlights of ruby, emerald, pink and amber add splashes of colour.

While the collection leads with brand new designs, Lydia has included a few classics – namely her crystal flower earrings which are a huge hit with her fashionista customers. And staying true to her previous collections, each piece is named after a lady – with the latest additions including Aggy, Bella, Edie and Matilda.

Her third collection marks an exciting 12 months for the 29-year-old designer – Lydia took top prize for Best Accessory Designer in the recent 2Threads Fashion Awards, and her jewellery was chosen by Australian singer Jessica Mauboy to complete her red carpet look.

Channel your spiritual side with ‘Jewel of the Night’ – the range is priced between $50 and $199 and is available online at www.lydiajewels.com

Not one to back away from a challenge I got to work and boy did my hands hurt from sewing.  Below are the results. I have had some really great responses and as such have decided to offer a bespoke service for anyone heading to the races that would like a one off exclusive headpiece. Please get in touch if that is you – fascinators@lydiajewels.com
