Official Press Release from Sweaty Betty PR

EXOTIC JEWELS OF THE NIGHT FROM LYDIA

Exotic Asian shades, regal touches, and decadent dark gems – the latest collection from Lydia Jewels will whisk you from grey winter days in the city, to the remote tropical beaches of Thailand.

‘Jewel of the Night’ is the third stunning collection of accessories from Sydney designer and stylist Lydia-Jane Saunders. Renowned for her vintage-inspired pieces, which include bridal collections and bespoke items, Lydia has moved into darker territories this season, fusing her signature old Hollywood glamour with striking Asian culture.

Influenced by a recent sojourn to Thailand, ‘Jewel of the Night’s pieces including rosary bead necklaces, elegant drop earrings and on-trend chunky bracelets, crafted from Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones including Amber, Onyx and Pink Quartz.  Black and jewel tones give the collection a gothic edge, while highlights of ruby, emerald, pink and amber add splashes of colour.

While the collection leads with brand new designs, Lydia has included a few classics – namely her crystal flower earrings which are a huge hit with her fashionista customers. And staying true to her previous collections, each piece is named after a lady – with the latest additions including Aggy, Bella, Edie and Matilda.

Her third collection marks an exciting 12 months for the 29-year-old designer – Lydia took top prize for Best Accessory Designer in the recent 2Threads Fashion Awards, and her jewellery was chosen by Australian singer Jessica Mauboy to complete her red carpet look.

Channel your spiritual side with ‘Jewel of the Night’ – the range is priced between $50 and $199 and is available online at www.lydiajewels.com

Check out Lydia Jewels in the latest issue of X and Y Magazine here.

Fashion Editor Amber Renae of Project Runway fame approached Lydia to create some pieces to suit her story. The big ball bracelets and silver necklace are very different to the usual Lydia Jewels style but still a lot of fun to design and make.

I was so flattered to have been asked to be the guest judge in Who Magazine for their feature “Who Got It Right?”. I’m often told I am very critical of celebrities’ dress sense so this was a dream come true to be able to do it for work. See the pics below:

Lydia Jewels hosted a fabulous Christmas VIP night in our new studio in Alexandria in late December 2009. Many VIP guests attended and were treated to champagne, cupcakes, huge discounts and even 2 dj’s to keep the boys happy whilst the girls shopped. If you would like to be invited to our next VIP event, please sign up to our newsletter via www.lydiajewels.com or email VIP@lydiajewels.com

A special thank you to Cupcake Angels. They created the cupcakes taking inspiration from this blog. They looked and tasted amazing !

Lydia Jewels took part in Shop ‘Til You Drop’s Fashion Weekend at Fox Studios last weekend. There were over 150 designers with huge discounts, a GHD stand to get your hair done, an Essie stand to have your nails done, a Tempus Two bar (which kept us stocked up with a bottle of champagne every day to get us through the long hours), a cafe and even Sharon Lee, the eyebrow queen had a stand.

Wow what a hectic time but so much fun.

I hope some of you managed to get down and see us. Our collection pieces were reduced up to 70% off for 4 days only and lots of one off pieces were very cheap.  We had lots of sales and lots of interest from new bespoke customers. Overall we had a ball and can’t wait to do it again in May 2010. Make sure you come and say hi !!

If you didn’t manage to make it down, simply enter fashionweekend in the coupon code box at checkout for a 20% disount on all pieces until 15th December 2009. www.lydiajewels.com

A lot has happened and a lot is on the go since I last posted. Mainly I have been in London visiting my parents for a few weeks which was fabulous. Amongst catching up with friends, eating too much and most definitely drinking too much, I did actually do some work over there and picked up a new stockist. A boutique called So Chic. I also sourced some great beads I have never seen in Australia and can’t wait to incorporate them into my next collection.

Two days after I got back from London I had a stand at The Wedding Establishment. I have never taken part in a trade show and was not sure how it would go but I loved it. I met some wonderful brides over glasses of champagne and networked with some other top end Bridal suppliers. Check out The Wedding Establishment website
